On 23rd February 2026, the School of Health Sciences at Makerere University College of Health Sciences (MakCHS) hosted the Dean of the College of Nursing, University of Saskatchewan, Dr. Solina Richter, and Dr. Shehnaz Alidina, Dean for Global Engagement.
During the engagement, potential areas of collaboration in nursing and midwifery education and research between the University of Saskatchewan-College of Nursing and the MakCHS-Department of Nursing.
The discussions focused on strengthening academic partnerships through joint research initiatives, faculty exchange, curriculum development, and shared teaching and learning opportunities. Both institutions agreed that the first step will be to establish formal connections between faculty members based on aligned research and teaching interests. This initial engagement will help identify priority areas for collaboration and build sustainable scholarly relationships. It was further agreed that a follow-up virtual meeting will be held within the next three months to advance these discussions, including the development and formalization of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the two institutions.
